OVERVIEW
In the 63 years since Congress passed the Peace Corps Act, 240,000 Volunteers have answered President John F. Kennedy’s call to advance “the great common cause of world development.”1 Since that time, at the invitation of host country governments, Volunteers have lived and worked with community members, partnering on shared development priorities in more than 144 countries to promote world peace and friendship.
